Wastewater Treatment
Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd has set up wastewater treatment facilities across major ports and has treated and reused 650 million litres till date. These facilities also treat water from nearby community councils.
Not only this, 100% of the water is recycled at our mining washery.
Seawater Desalination
Desaline water is a key source of water requirement for our power plants at Mundra (Gujarat) and Udupi (Karnataka). This allows to avoid any dependency on freshwater sources.
Desaline water also supports a major chunk of water requirements within the industrial units at Mundra Special Economic Zone. Clubbed with treated water, the Mundra SEZ met 95% of its water requirement from these sustainable sources.
Rain water Harvesting
Did you know that we harvest over 2 billion litres of rainwater annually, which can be used for generating approximately 891 million units of electricity? This can light up 8.9 million houses for a month (considering average household requirement of 100 units per month).
Additionally, all major solar and wind power plants, and ports, are installed with rainwater harvesting systems.
Pond and Stream Deepening, Check Dams and Drip Irrigation
Adani Foundation, the CSR arm for Adani Group, undertakes water conservation projects across 18+ states of India, catering to potable water requirement and irrigation.
Until now water conservation projects have reached out to 20,000+ farmers catering to over 17,000 acres of land.
Further, our teams encourage the local communities to opt for drip irrigation, a water sensitive method used in agriculture. This has also touched almost 4900+ acres of farm land saving the precious resource – water.
